Valentines Launch of Indie Fine Fragrance Line Good Dearest Unhappy

Introducing Good Dearest Unhappy
The launch of this indie fine fragrance brand has been paired perfectly with the day of love. I have been so excited about this brand for a while so I was overjoyed when I was hired to do launch images for the brand. The owner says of their brand: “Good Dearest Unhappy is an intensely personal project. Each fragrance was inspired by a feeling or a story that is dear to me in one way or another. I hope you find your own stories in them too.”

Launching today with 5 scents there is a journey & unique experience for anyone. The five scents are Calotype, Heartbreak Silverado, Rosarium, Pensione Memoir & Dryade wine.

The calotype: an early photographic technique whose name comes from the Greek roots kalos and tupos, which together mean “beautiful impression.” Calotypes are characterized by their warm amber coloring, projecting a dramatic softness that feels lived-in. Like touching your own skin, Calotype feels both exploratory and comfortable.

Their stallion kicks up dust as they ride off into the endless field of dirt and brush. You’re left alone at the ranch you shared with only your memories to show for it. Eyes rimmed in red and throat filled with the metallic aftertaste of tears, you trudge through the orchard, looking at the unripe fruit and hoping for a sweeter tomorrow. There’s something so romantic about being left high and dry.

NOTES

Top: Pink Peppercorn, Unripe Mandarin Orange

Heart: New-Mown Hay, Cannabis Buds, Brewed Coffee, Nutmeg

Base: Worn Leather Saddle, Skin Musks, Haitian Vetiver, Texan Cedarwood

An ode to doing what you’re not supposed to. You sneak into the rose garden with your fellow ne’er do wells, puffing on a spliff and stealing kisses. The cold, early-spring air chills the bare legs beneath your pressed, plaid uniform. Surrounded by dozens of meticulously-kept rose cultivars and thick walls of ivy, you know you might get caught, but that’s all part of the fun, isn’t it?

NOTES

Top: Bergamot, Freshly-Mowed Lawn

Heart: Rose Absolute, English Ivy, Spliff Accord, Cassis

Base: Tennis Whites, Cashmere, Sandalwood

Luxuriating on a sun-warmed chaise, sipping mint tea and gazing at the San Jacinto mountains. The aroma of a nearby citrus grove wafts in on the soft breeze. An old, crackling record plays faintly in the background as you close your eyes and focus on the burbling of a fountain and the hum of conversation from the restaurant across the jasmine-laden courtyard.

NOTES

Top: Coriander, Mint Tea, California Citrus Grove

Middle: Jasmine Sambac, Galbanum, Petitgrain

Base: Tonka Bean, Medjool Date, Market Spices

he dark forest envelopes you in a way that is both haunting and comforting. You spot flickering firelight across a glade. You cannot tell which is more intoxicating: the wine or the ethereal forest nymphs.

NOTES

Heart: Raspberry, Jasmine Sambac, Rose Absolute, Ritual Smoke
